Former X-Files star David Duchovny is returning to series television in a comedy featuring him as womaniser with a teenage daughter.

“Showtime” has picked up the as-yet untitled series which features Duchovny playing a writer who juggles a 16-year-old daughter, an ex-wife whom he still cares for and an insatiable appetite for beautiful women.

Showtime plans to launch the series in August, paired with the network’s critically acclaimed comedy series Weeds. Dave will also serve as a producer on the project.
