Keith Olbermann and Current TV are a done deal – Olbermann announced Wednesday that he will host a nightly primetime show for Current TV beginning in late spring, as well as become chief news officer for Current.

Keith Olbermann spoke in a conference call with reporters, noting that “nothing is more vital to a free America than a free media.”

Olbermann calls Current TV “the model truth seeking entity” and believes his show to be “the most exciting event in my career.”

Chairman of Current TV, Al Gore, said he’s “extremely honored and delighted” that Olbermann is joining Current, noting, Olbermann is “great fit with Current in every way.”

Olberman’s Current TV announcement comes a little over two weeks after he left MSNBC’s “Countdown.”
