And now, a Crystal Bowersox hospital update… Ryan Seacrest talked with American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick about what Crystal is in the hospital for and if the show will disqualify her from the competition if she can’t compete tonight.

Warwick was planning to have a Crystal Bowersox update later today, which would determine whether or not she can perform on tonight’s show.

If she continues to be ill (and Warwick wouldn’t comment on why she was hospitalized, but rumors say it’s diabetes related), Bowersox could be disqualified from the show.

Warwick commented, “If you’re in the Olympics and you’re going for the semi-final, for the final, if you don’t turn up, you don’t get straight through to the final.”

What a tough break that would be, especially for an early front-runner in the competition.
