All that hype about “Celebrity Apprentice,” and now they went and delayed the debut date! “Celebrity Apprentice” was set to start January 3, but has been bumped to January 10 for the start date.
OK, so it’s only a week, but you’ll need to adjust your calendar if you were eagerly awaiting the celebrity edition to begin. It’s likely that the bump is due to the last original airing of “Grey’s Anatomy” that was completed prior to the writers’ strike… that or the Orange Bowl, which also airs January 3. Overall, not a great night for “Celebrity Apprentice” to get started.
While Katherine Heigl and Alec Baldwin have been the most vocal about skipping the Golden Globe Awards, there are likely to be other stars that will also boycott the event in support of the writers’ strike.
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” star Marg Helgenberger is married to the President of the Screen Actors Guild, Alan Rosenberg, so she has some first-hand knowledge of stars who will not be in attendance. Read the rest of this entry »
The ongoing writers’ strike isn’t keeping “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia out of a job – the hot star has two films in the pipeline.
Milo Ventimiglia told Entertainment Weekly:
“I’m pretty busy. I’m doing two features before Christmas. One is called Game, and that’s with Gerard Butler and Amber Valletta. It’s written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the same guys who did Pathology, the movie I have coming out in the spring.”
In “Game,” Milo Ventimiglia will play “a very interesting futuristic character that’s not necessarily in control of himself.”
We reported that Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien are ready to return to late night television in January, but due to the writers’ strike, they will have to run their shows without writing talent. David Letterman hopes to return in January too – but he’s trying to strike a deal to get his writers back on board for the show’s return.
David Letterman is in the process of instituting an interim agreement during the writers’ strike that would allow his staff to return on January 2. Since Letterman’s Worldwide Pants production company owns “Late Show,” there is no issue with network ownership. Read the rest of this entry »
No, the strike isn’t over (wishful thinking), but Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien are ready to return to TV on January 2 with new shows. According to NBC:
“After two months of repeats, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien will resume broadcasting all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008. The late night shows suspended production due to the strike by the Writers Guild of America on Nov. 5 and have aired repeats since.” Read the rest of this entry »
I doubt she’ll be the only one to boycott the Golden Globes, but Katherine Heigl is so far the most outspoken about not crossing the picket line to attend the ceremony.
Katherine Heigl grabbed a best supporting actress nomination this morning for “Grey’s Anatomy,” but told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m not crossing the picket line [to attend] unless I’m contractually obliged to do so. And I’m not [obligated] with the Golden Globes.”
Nothing like Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) performing at the writers’ strike to lift everyone’s spirits. Note: Lots of swearing (hey, this is Tenacious D, after all), so definitely NSFW.
