So Victoria Beckham isn’t exactly a fixture in the television world, but she did have her own special and recently appeared on “Ugly Betty” (and with the Spice Girls on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.). Anyway, I had to chuckle at her admission that she’s really not the best singer, dancer or actress – way to sell your talents, Posh!
Victoria Beckham told Elle magazine (January issue), “It became very obvious from the start [of my career] that I was never going to be the best singer or the best dancer or the best actress. I was never a ‘natural.’ You know, I’ve never been that good at anything, to be completely honest.”
Another thing Victoria Beckham isn’t good at? Smiling for pictures.

Kiss singer Gene Simmons is set for a guest starring role on “Ugly Betty” – rumored to be playing receptionist Amanda’s father. However, no confirmation about his role has been given, with Gene Simmons staying particularly mum about his guest role on “Ugly Betty.
According to Simmons, “I’m shooting Ugly Betty – not the character, the show. Can’t tell you just yet who I’m playing or what it’s about. But it might give you a chuckle.”

Looks like “Ugly Betty” and “High School Musical 2” are family favorites, as they each took home awards Wednesday night at the Family Television Awards.
America Ferrera won a best actress award for her role as Betty on “Ugly Betty,” while the series won best comedy. Ferrera can add the Family Television Award to her growing list of awards: Golden Globe, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild honoors.
Zac Efron took the best actor award for his role as Troy Bolton in “High School Musical 2,” while the Disney movie nabbed best movie musical award.

As if this show wasn’t fun already, rumor is there’s an “Ugly Betty” musical in the works! We already know that Vanessa Williams, who plays Wilhelmina, had a singing career, but what about the other actors?
Ashley Jensen, who plays Betty’s BFF Christina McKinney, is a in a bit of a panic about the proposition of an “Ugly Betty” musical, however. Well, mostly she’s just nervous about sharing a singing scene with Williams, saying, “Most people have got a wee (small) voice inside them. It might not be Vanessa Williams’ standard. But I think what will be part of the charm is that it will be the characters singing.”
Marc Shaiman, who wrote the score for Broadway’s “Hairspray,” will compose the “Ugly Betty” music.

Sure, Entertainment Weekly’s Entertainers of the Year list encompasses all things entertainment, but since this is TV Crunch, we thought we’d highlight some of the TV entertainers who made the cut.

“The Sopranos” – While it’s the end of the road for “The Sopranos,” doesn’t the show that’s given us so much deserve as much love as possible? Read the rest of this entry »

The much rumored guest role for Lindsay Lohan on “Ugly Betty” is not a done deal yet. While Lohan is “totally looking forward to” having a guest-starring gig on the popular series, and her publicist says LiLo “was flattered there was interest in her,” neither party has committed yet. Her publicist also said, “They talked character points and she loved [the idea].” Guess we’ll just have to wait for this pesky writers’ strike to end before anything is official.

While Gabrielle Union is not currently on “Ugly Betty,” discussions of her making a guest appearance are on hold due to the writers’ strike. Union was in talks with “Ugly Betty” creators to play the role of Wilhelmina’s (Vanessa Williams) younger sister. With the strike in full swing, the part is in limbo, but Union says, “Hopefully we’ll be able to work it out soon, and squeeze her in somewhere!”
