Following news that the writers’ strike has ended and everyone in TV land is going back to work, ABC has announced that nine of the network’s shows have been renewed for the 2008-09 season.
Naturally, “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Ugly Betty,” “Lost” and “Brothers & Sisters” will return… but four new shows have also been given the network’s blessing for a second season: “Pushing Daisies,” “Private Practice,” “Samantha Who?” and “Dirty Sexy Money.” Read the rest of this entry »
Love or hate Barbara Walters, her annual pre-Oscar special has become part of the Oscar routine.
This year, Barbara Walters’ 27th annual pre-Oscars special will air February 24 at 7 PM (ET) — she’ll be interviewing “Juno” star Ellen Page, Harrison Ford, “Ugly Betty” star Vanessa Williams and “Hannah Montana” herself, Miley Cyrus.
The Barbara Walters Oscar special will air after the Academy Awards on the West Coast.
In May, “Ugly Betty” dolls will be available from dollmaker Madame Alexander. The 18″ or 8″ Betty Suarez dolls depict America Ferrera’s plain-jane character in all her glory — right down to the Guadalajara poncho.
I think they’re kind of cute, actually… but I’m an “Ugly Betty” fan, so maybe my judgement is clouded. Can’t say as I see these “Ugly Betty” dolls exactly flying off the shelves though.
Looks like there may be some happier news on the horizon when it comes to the writers’ strike. A tentative agreement was made between writers and Hollywood bigwigs on Friday, and while nothing is solid yet, many are hopeful that the writers’ strike could end this week.
If you love pageants and reality shows, then you’re gonna love the latest reality series on TLC — “Miss America: Reality Check,” airing tonight at 10 PM.
Hosted by Michael Urie (who plays snarky Marc St. James on “Ugly Betty), “Miss America: Reality Check” takes a behind-the-scenes look at the 52 Miss America contestants as they live together in an L.A. Mansion and (according to the TLC press release) “participate in an intense set of events and challenges designed to prepare them for the final event.”
