Michelle Williams’ father talked with Australia’s The Daily Telegraph about Heath Ledger’s death, saying:

“I think [poet] Tennyson got it right in the poem when he described someone as having died at a young age but burning the candles at both ends, and oh what a beautiful flame he made, that was Heath, what a beautiful flame he made and a great talent.

My heart goes out to everyone in his family and my family. The saddest thing is his 2-year-old daughter [Matilda] whom he just loved dearly.”

Heath Ledger’s spokesperson, Mara Buxbaum, released a statement about Heath Ledger’s death:

“We are all deeply saddened and shocked by this accident. This is an extremely difficult time for his loved ones and we are asking the media to please respect the family’s privacy and avoid speculation until the facts are known.”

The writers have announced that despite the continuation of the strike, they will not picket the 2008 Grammy Awards. The Writers’ Guild of America is still refusing to grant a waiver that would allow union writers to write for the show, but even if that means stilted jokes and a dry opening speech, at least the show will go on and the celebrities will be all over the red carpet, which is better than what happened to the Golden Globes.

Such a sad day, as many are still accepting the news that actor Heath Ledger has died. TMZ.com is reporting that Heath Ledger had pneumonia at the time of his death.

TMZ is also reporting that reps for Heath Ledger’s family have contacted TMZ and the family are denying any suicide rumors. The police have informed the family that Heath Ledger’s death was “absolutely accidental.”

The news of Heath Ledger’s death is an absolute shock, but the Oscar nominated actor was found dead in his New York apartment today. Heath Ledger was 28.
