NPH and Hugh started the host-off medley with “Anything You Can Do” and run through the reasons each is the better host… ultimately they decide that they’re both pretty dang great.

Perhaps bonus points go to Hugh Jackman, who knows how to get better gift bags!

Neil Patrick Harris even gets some celeb audience participation (could Brooke Shields not learn her line?!), but reminds Al Pacino he’s too famous for the bit.

And who said gay actors can’t pull off straight roles? Looks like Kristin and Sean got their dig in the very best possible way.

Neil Patrick Harris is currently negotiating the deal with CBS and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to host the Emmys on September 20.

It’s not a done deal yet and CBS has declined to comment, but it’s rumored that it’s likely to happen.

Bret Michaels’ spokeswoman reported that he had X-rays, a fractured nose and got three stitches in his lip following the Tony Awards performance. Michaels also received a CAT scan on Monday as a precaution.

The Neil Patrick Harris closing number for the 2009 Tony Awards had some clever writing, including the lyrics: “This show could not be any gayer/ if Liza were the mayor/ And Elton John took flight.”
