FX Cancels The Riches

Aw, say it ain’t so. FX has canceled The Riches after just two seasons.

While I loved seeing Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver play con-artists on The Riches, I have to admit that this drama piled up on my DVR and I got so behind I had to give up on the show.

Last week, co-star Todd Stashwick announced on his MySpace page that “The Riches has been canceled,” but an FX spokesperson confirmed the news yesterday.

Put an end to those Minnie Driver pregnancy rumors — “The Riches” star confirmed that she is pregnant on the March 13 Tonight Show.

Jay Leno joked on last night’s The Tonight Show that it looked like Minnie Driver had made too many trips to the Hometown Buffet.

Minnie Driver responded, “Are you calling me fat? You’ve noticed my tummy, haven’t you?” Leno asked, “Are you pregnant?”

Minnie Driver: “Yes, I am.”

Minnie Driver, who currently stars on FX’s “The Riches,” has recently been rumored to be pregnant. But is she?

Well, no confirmation from the actress yet… but Page Six is reporting that not only was she spotted looking at sonogram pictures outsider her doctor’s office this week, but she was also seen purchasing baby clothes at J. Crew spinoff Crewcuts.

Not that shopping for baby clothes makes the pregnancy rumor true, but someone at the store said, “Minnie [Driver] came in and bought clothes for a baby girl and was overheard talking about her pregnancy and how she hasn’t been feeling well.”

Ah yes. But how reliable is this source? We’ll let this one play out…

The Riches Second Season Returns March 18

The second season of the FX series “The Riches” will premiere on March 18. While this is good news — the sad news is that only seven episodes will air. Beggars can’t be choosers, I suppose.

I have a little confession to make: I have most of the first season of “The Riches” still sitting on my DVR, and despite my best attempts, I just can’t get through them. Not for lack of loving the concept of the series or the stars involved (seriously, I’d follow Eddie Izzard to the end of the earth, and Minnie Driver ain’t half bad either!). I just can’t seem to carve out the time to get to the remaining episodes from season one.

Looks like I’ve got a little time to catch up before season two of “The Riches” returns on March 18.
