It’ll be nice to have Amy Sedaris back in a regular role on TV. She was ridiculously funny on Comedy Central’s Strangers with Candy and never manages to turn in a dull talk show guest gig – check out her latest appearance on Late Show with David Letterman.

Naturally, with no details to share about The Closer spinoff, it’s unclear if an existing “Closer” character will carry the new show or if a new main character will be introduced.

“The Sopranos” – While it’s the end of the road for “The Sopranos,” doesn’t the show that’s given us so much deserve as much love as possible?

Will Smith – Sure, he’s a huge movie star, but let’s not forget his humble beginnings on “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”

The Cable Queens – Well, that’s what Entertainment Weekly calls them anyway. The female powerhouses of cable are: Mary-Louise Parker (”Weeds”), Kyra Sedgwick (”The Closer”), Glenn Close (”Damages”), and Holly Hunter (”Saving Grace”). These ladies rock, no doubt about it.

Katherine Heigl – Playing Dr. Izzie Stevens on “Grey’s Anatomy” won her the Emmy for best supporting actress. She’s definitely no slouch.

Carrie Underwood – You have to wonder… without “American Idol,” would Underwood be a household name?

Zac Efron – Whether you’re a “High School Musical” lover or hater, you can’t dispute that Zac Efron’s star is on the rise.

Miley Cyrus – This 15-year-old definitely has the “it” factor among the tween set. Her wildly popular Disney show “Hannah Montana” and sold-out concerts mean this girl isn’t going anywhere for awhile.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay – The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and “SNL” writer (McKay) have conquered the viral video revolution with their site FunnyorDie.com.

Tina Fey – Finally, Tina Fey is getting some recognition! And why shouldn’t she? “30 Rock” is without a doubt the smartest and funniest thing on TV right now – she even has the Emmy for best comedy to prove it.

Seth Rogan – While Seth Rogan is acknowledged on the Entertainers of the Year list as part of “The Apatow Gang,” let’s not forget his start on those great Judd Apatow TV shows, “Freaks and Geeks” and “Undeclared,” that launched Rogan’s career.

“The Simpsons” – There’s something to be said for an animated series that stands the test of time. With the highly successful “The Simpsons Movie,” this classic shows it hasn’t run out of great material yet.

Vanessa Williams – Who’d have thought a de-crowned Miss America could rise from the ashes? Vanessa Williams dusted off her tiara and is now the queen of TV with her role as Wilhelmina Slater on “Ugly Betty.” Evil never looked so good.

Tyler Perry – With Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” series on TBS earning the highest ratings ever for a basic-cable sitcom premiere, this writer/director/actor is sitting pretty.

“Mad Men” – When a TV series about 1960s ad men on AMC succeeds, you know it’s got to be good. Strike that. It’s great.

‘The Closer’ began its third season Monday night by surpassing its own benchmark for most-watched series telecast ever on ad-supported cable. About 8.8 million people tuned in.
