Deidre Hall is returning to Days of Our Lives! Look for Deidre Hall to reprise her role as Dr. Marlena Evans beginning September 26.

Other DOOL alum returning include Patrick Muldoon (Austin Reed) and Christie Clark (Carrie Brady)… but will fans see the return of Drake Hogestyn (John Black)?

Executive Producer Ken Corday has hired two new head writers, so maybe Days of Our Lives will get good again!

Instead, reality show programming is replacing soap operas because these type of shows are cheaper to produce.

“All My Children” and “One Life to Live” canceled? Sadly, it’s true.

ABC has cancelled One Life to Live and All My Children, with both ending in 2012.

Two new shows, “The Chew” and “The Revolution” will take their places.

ABC executive Brian Frons commented, “They are iconic pieces of television that have made an indelible mark on our culture’s history.”

“All My Children” ends in September; “One Life to Live” ends in January 2012.

So sad.

Days of Our Lives fans, take note… Days of Our Lives has been renewed for two years!

DOOL executive producer Ken Corday said that he “broke down” in tears when he heard that NBC was renewing the soap opera.

Corday tells The Times: “This is a time of a lot of uncertainty in the soap community” – so a Days of Our Lives renewal is pretty exciting news for fans of the long running series.
