Simon Cowell is said to be negotiating a deal with Fox that would keep him on board as Idol judge for another two years.

Simon Cowell is currently in the final year of his contrat for American Idol, and is working to not only extend that job, but bring The X Factor to the U.S. as well.

Under the new contract, Fox would bring an American X Factor to the small screen as well as keep Simon on board at Idol through the 2011-12 season.

The payout for this deal? It’s rumored that Simon Cowell could earn $50 million per season on American Idol as well as $50 million per cycle of X Factor.

Anyone think Simon is overpaid?

Cowell also noted that despite the different Idol chemistry, “I miss her, of course.”

Just how different will the American Idol chemistry be without Paula? Cowell commented to Extra, “It’s like comparing a carrot to a banana… They are different.”

Our guess is that Paula was the banana in this analogy.

Oprah also grilled Simon Cowell on whether he will continue with American Idol or not – he said, “The truth was I did sign a contract and I agreed at the end of that time period, that’s it.”

Oprah believes they’ll pay him “SO much money” to stay on longer, but Cowell replied, “Now, I feel it may be the end. But I’ll keep an open door.”

Susan Boyle will share her Scotland home, giving a tour to Oprah and viewers and talking more about her life up until that Britain’s Got Talent audition.

Oprah will also interview Simon Cowell and talented folks from around the world, in an episode called “The World’s Got Talent.”

Simon Cowell tells Ellen in the interview, “All these contestants have signed up for our show and it’s the most important thing in their life and all we’re talking about is whether we’re (the judges are) going to be on the show or not. It’s all a bit out of kilter here. I think certainly next year everyone’s going to be back.”
