News of an L Word spinoff has been swirling for some time - but Showtime has now picked its leading lady: L Word star Leisha Hailey.
Leisha Hailey has played Alice on The L Word since 2004. Shooting for The L Word spinoff pilot (as yet untitled) will take place in December.

Showtime is wrapping up “The L Word” early next year, airing the sixth and final season - but an “L Word” spin-off is already planned for the network.
At this point, it’s unclear which of the “L Word” actresses will star in the spinoff, according to Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt.
