Survivor Winner, Lorette Mostert

Last night, Survivor Lorette Mostert won the South African version of Survivor. She was voted in by viewers through a viewer’s choice competition, not by the producers like other Survivor survivors.

“I’m so very surprised. I just was in the game as myself and my strategy was just to do my best and I’m just so amazed that I made it to the end.” Her fellow contestants respected her, calling her hard-working and honest.

The Police Woman adds that even with the money, she has no plans to quit her job anytime soon. “Anybody who is a police officer does not do it for the money, but to help people.” We could use more people like that.

Ten Years Younger

Do you have wrinkles? Do you feel that you look older than you really are? Do people think you’re your children’s grandmother or grandfather instead of their parent? Are you tired and stressed out, and clearly weary? Then Ten Years Younger could be the perfect show for you.

TLC’s Reality TV show, Ten Years Younger, gets people (mostly women) who are older than they look, often by 10 or 15 years, and want to look closer to their age. At the beginning of the show, the person is stuck in the dreaded soundproof box and 100 people are surveyed, asking how old they she is, and what she can do to look younger.

From there, the program director (currently Nicky Hambleton-Jones) then sets the average age and then, the rest of the cast goes about helping the woman look younger, with changes in hair, makeup, clothing, and at times, food and meal preparation.

Then, the woman goes back in the soundproof box, and another 100 people are surveyed. The average is typically 10-15 years younger than the woman looked initially. This show is both entertaining and fascinating. It is also currently accepting applicants through this website: http://www.evolutionusa.com/casting_10years.html

Howard K. Stern with Anna Nicole Smith
Howard K. Stern was a well-kept man – while Anna Nicole Smith was still alive. Now that she’s gone, he’s not doing so well. In an interview with Us Weekly, Stern admits that he’s in some financial trouble.

“I am in debt and basically broke. There’s this impression out there that I am somehow making money off of Anna’s death. It couldn’t be further from the truth.”

He does, however, have a $60 million libel suit against author Rita Crosby (she writes in her book that Stern and Larry Birkhead engaged in homosexual acts). No telling how that’ll play out.

Last Night’s Kitchen Nightmare

Chef Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen

Whew, the kitchen that Chef Ramsey visited in last night’s episode truly was a nightmare. The cute-looking Family-Owned Irish Pub and Restaurant was not getting nearly the kind of business that it needed to survive. While owner Daddy isn’t getting his paycheck, his oldest son and cook, Brian, is cutting corners and turning out food that can only be called gross. Meanwhile, the youngest son, Jason and his wife are the bartender and server, respectively, and they’re worried about their father, who has invested everything in his family business.

Needless to say, Chef was not impressed when he walked in. The gloomy place had a distinctly unfriendly aura, and when Chef received the food, he was horrified. And when he puked – or at least did a lot of coughing – in the restroom, the whole restaurant was, too.

Then Chef Ramsey got down to business, trying to figure out when, exactly, Brian stopped caring about the food they were turning out, and the customers. All along, Brian’s been telling the camera about how he knows what he’s doing, and he’s good at it. “I don’t like to come off conceited or cocky,” but he is. Thing is, even Dad is saying that if he weren’t his son, he would fire him.

And when Chef Ramsey tells him he’s not quite making it up to par, the overly confident terd had the gall to say, “He has no idea what he’s talking about, so I don’t really care.” I’m a TV-yeller, and this (to the amusement of my roommate) caused me to cry out, “Doesn’t know what he’s talking about! Do you know what you’re talking about!?”

So, with only a week to turn the place around, Chef Ramsey gets started right away. He goes to the fire department and tries to get them to come to the restaurant, first asking what they thought of the food, and what could be done to make the food better. They tell him it’s greasy, and then they pretty much went mum, so he invites them back to the restaurant, promising better food and improved service.

Unfortunately, when they do come, they aren’t satisfied, and Chef has them tell their complaints to Brian. Brian’s reaction is predictable: complaining about how he does this all day, and he knows what he’s doing – they’re not the ones cooking. My roommate yelled “But they eat!” My sentiments exactly.

Somehow, though, after a lot of hard work – and renewed appreciation for what one another does after Brian quits and comes back – they are ready for opening night. And it was packed. People were complaining, and even I was getting antsy. If you’ve ever been a server, you know how awful it is to have a packed restaurant and a long line of people going out the door, especially when people are complaining. I think that could have been done better, somehow, maybe add to the staff. I mean, there’s only one cook, and 2 or 3 servers and there were 60 people inside. When they all come at once, that’s not sufficient.

In any case, the restaurant had a complete turn around, Brian’s attitude changed 100 percent, and Dad finally got paid.

Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight
“America’s Next Top Model” winner, Adrianne Curry, and “Brady Bunch” star, Christopher Knight, are on a race against the clock when it comes to having kids. With 25 years between this couple, Curry is slightly panicked, saying, “If we start having [kids] soon [he's] not going to get decrepit like Mick Jagger. When his kid hits his teens [he'll] be dead. I don’t want that and we won’t have that if we have kids in the next few years.” Knight just turned 50 this month, so it looks like the baby-making race is on!

Knight’s comment? “We want to have the kids before I’m in the crib with them.”

Paige Davis Comes Back to “Trading Spaces”

Paige Davis
Remember how fun it used to be to watch “Trading Spaces”? I owe that in no part to uber-perky host Paige Davis – for me, the show’s premise just ran out of steam and I lost interest. And it just happened to coincide with Davis leaving the show. At any rate, she moved on and so did I.

Paige Davis was fired from “Trading Spaces” three years ago, but it looks like she’s coming back to the show that made her a household name. Will that mean a return of viewers for the sixth season of the series? I, personally, would love to see season one host Alex McLeod back on the show, but that’s just me.

At the time of her firing, TLC said they were moving the show in a different direction – one that wouldn’t require a host. Davis left the small screen, but enjoyed a good run in theater productions. And now… she’s back.

Janice Dickinson
This isn’t much of a shocker, but Janice Dickinson of the “Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency” has admitted to spending $100,000 on plastic surgery. Surprised? According to Dickinson, “I’m not addicted to plastic surgery. But I need it. I couldn’t have that chicken neck thing going on, so I had a neck lift. And I had a brow lift and got my eyes done. Everything is fake about me – my tits, teeth, hair, nails – and I’m just perfect.” She’s currently a contestant on the British show, “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”

Mark Jacobs Wants His Own Reality TV Show

Mark Jacobs1

Mark Jacobs wants to star in his own reality TV show. Not that he has a name for it or anything, but he does have a plan of action: it’ll be about everything, as he said, “All aspects of my life. All the drama, the intrigue, the sex, the romance the work. I’m a shameless human being.”

Clearly, he finds himself entertaining – and he’s not afraid to admit it. He also says the entertainment wouldn’t come from putting people down, but just real life “because nothing is more entertaining.”

Tim Gunn, who is one of the judges for Project Runway says he thinks it could work.
