Afraid not. Not even close. He sang “I can’t Make You Love Me” and while he’s always smiling, the judges thought it was just too over-the-top. A resounding No for Raysharde Henderson.
Of the more than 10,000 people that showed up to audition for “American Idol 2008″ in Charleston, South Carolina, only 23 total contestants were chosen for Hollywood. Overall, it seemed like ther weren’t a lot of talented folks at this audition city.

Aretha Codner, 22, of Buffalo, NY tries to prove that she can live up to the name Aretha (Franklin) — but falls a bit short, singing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” Unfortunately, Aretha Codner doesn’t make it through to the Hollywood round.
A couple of things on Aretha Codner’s “American Idol 7″ South Carolina audition: first, what’s with Paula snickering when Aretha walked into the room? That seemed really unprofessional. And second, Simon was a little too fixated on her giant belt, don’tcha think?
In the end, Arehta Codner was in disbelief over the judges’ decision and tries to reverse their decision. Hey, at least she’s confident!
Joshua Boson, 20, of Beufort, SC gives the moment of the night’s “American Idol 7″ South Carolina audition show. Singing Jennifer Hudson’s “You’re Gonna Love Me” in this video clip, Joshua Boson absolutely butchers the song and gets no’s from the judges.
And Joshua Boson’s a bit delusional too, telling the judges that the show is fake and rigged and that the judges suck. Buck up, Joshua Boson — after all, he aspires to be the next World Idol!
Michelle and Jeffrey Lampkin, 26 and 24 year old brother and sister from Fort Mill & Newberry, SC took the “American Idol 7″ South Carolina auditions by storm with their crazy comic relief. Check out Michelle and Jeffrey Lampkin singing Celine Dion/R. Kelly “I’m Your Angel” in this video clip, and while Randy isn’t sold on Michelle Lampkin, Simon insists there’s no breaking up the pair — and they advance to the Hollywood round.
I like these two — a lot of fun without being over-the-top crazy.
Amy Catherine Flynn, 16, of Knoxville, Tennessee sings “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera in this video clip from the “American Idol 7″ South Carolina auditions. Amy Catherine Flynn is a perky teenager – captain of her dance team and gives talks to students about abstaining from sex. Randy Jackson thinks that Simon could benefit from Amy Flynn’s no sex speech, so she gives it to him!
Overall, Amy Catherine Flynn gets a yes from all three judges and advances to the Hollywood round, but Simon Cowell is concerned that people will find her annoying. I think the opposite — I can see her wholesome teenage image carrying her far on American Idol.
Last night’s “American Idol” San Diego auditions featured single dad Perrie Cataldo (see video above). Well, looks like we have our first official “American Idol” scandal.
TMZ.com obtained an arrest record and has the booking photo of Perrie Cataldo, who was arrested in 2006 for having a concealed handgun in a Glendale, Arizona bar. He was initially kicked out of the bar for fighting, but returned with a hidden gun. Read the rest of this entry »
While I’m not a huge Kathy Griffin fan, I will say that I’ve tuned into Bravo’s “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” from time to time and find it pretty entertaining.
