Tina Fey nailed her Sarah Palin impersonation in the cold open sketch of the September 13 Saturday Night Live season premiere. As rumored, Tina Fey appeared on SNL to do her best Sarah Palin (she really looks like her, huh?) and Amy Poehler played Hillary Clinton in the sketch.
With Hurricane Ike wreaking in Texas, Barack Obama has canceled his appearance on tonight’s Saturday Night Live/SNL. Barack Obama felt it was not appropriate to make the SNL guest appearance due to the destruction in Texas.
Lorne Michaels had issued a statement Friday about the tone of SNL, saying “If it’s [the hurricane] serious, it will change everything for us. Barack Obama is really making the rounds – last night, a stop at David Letterman’s desk, and Saturday, he’ll appear on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Michael Phelps will host the season opener of SNL on September 13.
An Obama campaign spokesperson told People.com, “The details of the sketch are still being worked out.”
