Rob Lowe Promoted to Permanent Parks and Recreation Cast Member

Cool “Parks and Recreation” news… the always gorgeous Rob Lowe (seriously, does he ever age?!) has been promoted to a permanent Parks & Rec cast member.

NBC made the announcement during this morning’s Television Critics Association Press Tour. Adam Scott, formerly of Party Down, was earlier promoted to a series regular, so I look forward to seeing more of these two!

“Party Down” Canceled? Starz Cancels Party Down, Gravity

“Party Down” has been canceled? Excuse me while I go quietly sob in the corner…

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Starz has canceled Party Down and Gravity, with an announcement to be made later today by the network.

Party Down just completed its second season, but with Jane Lynch leaving to co-star on Glee and Adam Scott joining the cast of Parks & Recreation, it seemed that perhaps the writing was on the wall.

Sadly, we’ll never see how the Party Down catering gang lives out the rest of their lives. Hrmph.

Update: Here’s the official statement about Party Down’s cancellation from Stephan Shelanski, executive vice president of programming for Starz Entertainment:

“After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of ‘Party Down’ and ‘Gravity.’ We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”

Adam Scott Joining Cast of Parks and Recreation; Leaving Party Down

Super funny “Party Down” star Adam Scott is joining the cast of “Parks and Recreation.”… But that means he’s leaving Party Down, so ya know, kind of bittersweet news.

Adam Scott will play a love interest for Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, co-starring in the last two episodes this season and returning as a show regular in the fall.

As for Party Down, Scott will still appear in a few episodes, should the series get picked up for another season. Season 2 of Party Down starts April 23 on Starz.

Megan Mullally Joins Cast of Starz Party Down

Megan Mullally landed a role on the Starz comedy “Party Down,” playing new character Lydia Dunfree.

Lydia Dunfree leaves her small town behind to help her daughter pursue an acting career, picking up a job with the Party Down catering team. If you haven’t checked out Party Down yet, give it a try – it’s easily one of the funniest shows on television – sadly, Party Down’s new season doesn’t air until April 2010.

Starz “Party Down” Renewed for Second Season

“Party Down” is one of those great little comedies that it seems like no one is watching – Starz has decided to renew “Party Down” for a second season, and I highly recommend that you give it a look.

Starz Media will produce another 10 episodes of Party Down, from creator Rob Thomas.

Party Down’s stars Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Lizzy Caplan will return for the second season, but it’s uncertain if Jane Lynch will return since she’s now signed on as a regular on Fox’s “Glee.”

Here’s hoping Party Down doesn’t lose Jane Lynch!

The season one finale of Party Down airs this Friday, May 15.
