Is it true that everything Oprah touches turns to gold? Can the same be said of her endorsement of Senator Barack Obama? Eh. Experts aren’t so sure she’ll have the magic touch when it comes to politics.
Dennis Goldford, a political scientist at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, said, “People say that she won’t be able to snap her fingers and have Iowans jump. She will help furnish him with an audience of people attracted to her, for him to make his own pitch. I think she can sell his books a lot easier than she can sell his candidacy.”
Oprah will hit the road with Barack Obama, making appearances in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Columbia, South Carolina, and Manchester, New Hampshire this weekend.

Oprah’s Miley Cyrus interview on Wednesday was a hit – and hungry “Hannah Montana” fans got more than enough details about the talented teenager.
Cyrus discussed her parents, including dad and “Hannah Montana” co-star Billy Ray Cyrus, boys and dating. Overall, dad said he doesn’t worry about Miley — “She’s got a great head on her shoulders.”
The big thrill was when Cyrus surprised 100 unsuspecting fans who thought they were there for a contest. Cyrus told Oprah, “I recommend earplugs,” right before the girls erupted in screams.

In the interview, Cyrus sounds pretty grounded, saying: “I try my hardest just to stay grounded because I have, you know, all these different kinds of people that are older than me trying to tell me what to do. I just have to say be true to yourself. Be a kid. Grow up slowly.”
Today’s Oprah was the much anticipated “Oprah’s Favorite Things” episode. One of her favorites is one pricey item – an HDTV refrigerator for $3,799, which includes 100 built-in recipes. Oprah’s at it again with an ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things’ gift giving extravaganza. You may recall these are the shows where audience members are shrieking, hyperventilating and practically fainting over all of the giveaways.
Oprah’s upcoming shows highlight U.S. towns, and at a taping in Macon, Georgia on Saturday, she delivered the goods. And then some. Camcorders and refrigerators were some of the big ticket items that her audience went home with.
If you’ve been dying to see a picture of Julia Roberts’ latest baby, tune in to Oprah on Monday. Henry Daniel Moder, who is now 5 months old, isn’t the only thing Roberts will be on hand to chat about. She’s also got a movie to plug – “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Plus her co-star in the film – some guy named Tom Hanks – will also join the show.
According to Roberts , people are really interested in catching a glimpse of young Henry. She tells Oprah, “There’s been a lot of curiosity. There’s not been a picture of him. I thought I would just show everybody.” Cue the oohing and aahing.
