Funny… check out the Britney Spears/Russell Brand promo commercial for MTV’s Video Music Awards/VMAs in the video clip above. The VMAs air live September 13 on MTV at 9 p.m. EST.
Russell Brand will return to the MTV Video Music Awards as host again this year. The VMAs will be at NYC’s Madison Square Garden in September and feature a West Side Story theme.
A friend of Russell Brand said, “He is over the moon. It’s the first time ever that the same host has been used for two consecutive years, which means a lot to him. He has had to promise not to offend the Jonas Brothers again though.”
Not like Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are in the news much for anything lately… but now comes word that the former boybander and the former MTV VJ have split. A source confirms the break up to Us Weekly, saying, “It was an amicable break-up. They walk away from it still friends…They still care about each other very much. This is what’s best for both of them.”
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have been together since 2006, when she met him on his music video shoot for “What’s Left of Me.”

MTV’s 23rd season of The Real World is taking to the nation’s capital for its next locale.
MTV will begin production on The Real World in Washington, D.C. this summer, with a premiere date in 2010. Real World 22 in Cancun will air June 24.
