Mariska Hargitay talks “Law & Order: SVU” in this Today show video clip, including the departure of partner Chris Meloni.

Hargitay notes that when Meloni left L&O, it was “a huge adjustment,” adding, “I missed him and I had a couple of really rough months.”

Overall, Hargitay assures fans that the show feels really fresh with changes, new dynamics, new cast members and her character, Olivia, growing and going in new directions.

Hargitay also talked about her Joyful Heart Foundation.

Christopher Meloni is leaving Law & Order: SVU! Why? Who will replace Detective Stabler?

After 12 seasons, Christopher Meloni decided to leave Law & Order: Special Victims Unit… and recently it was announced that his co-star, Mariska Hargitay, would be working less on the series, possibly to be replaced by Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Meloni’s rep confirms: “It is true—12 great years and time for the next chapter.”

Mariska Hargitay adops a baby girl and posts a baby photo of the gorgeous little one. Awww!

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, adopted the baby, born a week ago. Her name is Amaya Josephine.

Hargitay tells People.com, “I’m deliriously happy,” noting that they “were considering both international and domestic adoption and we’re thrilled that this is the way our prayers were answered.”

Mariska adds, “We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are very excited that we are now a multi-racial family. We’re just so happy she’s here.”

Law & Order Canceled? Cancellation of Law & Order After 20 Seasons

Has Law & Order been canceled? Various outlets, including E! News and Enertainment Weekly are reporting that Law & Order’s cancellation is on the horizon, though NBC has not yet confirmed the rumor.

E! Online reports that Law & Order’s cast and crew were notified of the cancellation today.

If L&O could have held on for one more season, it would have passed Gunsmoke as the longest-running TV drama series in history.

EW.com reports that no matter what the fate of Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU will likely be renewed and a new spinoff, Law & Order: Los Angeles, will be picked up.

NBC Fills Jay Leno 10 PM With Parenthood, Law & Order, Dateline, Marriage Ref

NBC has announced their new schedule for when Jay Leno is done with the 10 p.m. timeslot, filling it with the new series “Parenthood,” as well as “The Marriage Ref,” “Law & Order” and “Dateline.”

Here’s NBC’s new schedule, beginning on March 1:

10 p.m.: Law & Order (two-hour episode at 9 p.m. March 1 before moving to 10:00)

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni will return to Law & Order: SVU! Hargitay and Meloni have negotiated their return to the show, with sources saying the pair each have a one year contract on L&O, with an option for a second year.

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have upped their salaries with the new contract as well as negotiated a piece of backend SVU profits, putting them in the ballpark of $400,000 per episode.

In other Law & Order: SVU news, Christine Lahti will guest star on next season’s first four episodes.
