News of Joseph Cerniglia’s suicide yesterday was linked to his appearance on TV’s Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay, but now the affair with Jessica Marotta creates a new wrinkle.

Joseph Cerniglia allegedly was having an affair with his pastry chef, Jessica Marotta, and the affair destroyed his marriage. Chef cerniglia was apparently separated from his wife and three kids.

Jessica’s mother, Ana Marotta commented, “They loved each other very much. My daughter is devastated.”

For what it’s worth, Gordon Ramsay made a statement about Joseph Cerniglia’s suicide: “Joe was a brilliant chef, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and staff.”

Both Rachel Brown and Joseph Cerniglia killed themselves, but does it have anything to do with Gordon Ramsay?

Joseph Cerniglia’s body was found in New York’s Hudson River late last week, and marks the second Gordon Ramsay reality show participant who has commited suicide.

Rachel Brown shot herself in 2007 in her family’s Dallas home. Brown was a competitor on Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen.” She killed herself a year after she came in fifth on the reality show.

Cerniglia, owner of the restaurant Campania, jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Friday. You can see Joe Cerniglia in this 2007 Kitchen Nightmares video, where we learn about his struggling restaurant and debt.

At the time, Gordom Ramsay warned: “Your business is about to f—king swim down the Hudson.” That’s a bit chilling.

Cerniglia’s family posted a thank you on Facebook “to thank all of the friends who have sent their condolences.” Cerniglia leaves behind a wife and three sons.

Too sad.

Ramsay’s other hit, “Hell’s Kitchen,” will return for its new season this summer and will air two seasons back to back. Gordon Ramsay is sitting pretty, it seems.
