Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan Catfight? Piven Rep Says No

Buzz that Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan got in a catfight backstage at MTV talk show Alexa Chung are not true, according to Piven’s rep.

A fight reportedly broke out between Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan after Kattan joked about Piven’s mercury poisoning and Piv’s subsequent bailing on Broadway.

Jeremy Piven’s spokesperson denied the Piven/Kattan screaming match, however, saying, “Jeremy and Chris did see each other at MTV and they were joking around backstage before a talk show appearance, as people often do. If it was interpreted as a fight, someone wasn’t paying attention, that’s all. Both gentlemen spoke on the phone yesterday, there is no issue.”

Kattan reportedly said, “So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?”

To which Piven sniped, “Well, what are you here to promote? Mango?” -

Piven also was quoted as shouting “I’m getting sued for that s–t It’s not funny!”

Matt Damon to Make Cameo on Entourage Finale

Matt Damon has been confirmed in a cameo role on the season finale of HBO’s Entourage. Executive producer Doug Ellin says, “Lebron (James) and Matt (Damon) have a scene together and they just kill it!”

Ellin continues, “It wasn’t hard to get him. Matt came on the phone with me and wanted to do something that focused on his charity, One By One, which helps kids all over the world.”

Look for David Schwimmer as an Entourage guest star on the August 2 episode.

Jeremy Piven’s Mercury Levels Due to Sushi, Chinese Herbs

Poor Pivs… we reported earlier that Jeremy Piven dropped out of David Mamet’s Broadway production of Speed the Plow, citing high mercury counts. Now comes news that the mercury poisoning was due to sushi and Chinese herbs.

Jeremy Piven’s doctor has given Entertainment Tonight more details, saying that Jeremy Piven began experiencing fatigue and neuro-muscular dysfunction late last week.

By Sunday he was feeling dizzy too.

Jeremy Piven has been known to eat sushi regularly, sometimes twice a day, and has been taking Chinese herbs. Both of these things could have contributed to higher mercury counts.

Jeremy Piven’s doctor said Pivs will come out of this alright: “He is going to be OK. This is completely reversible… He just needs to really lay low and rest.”

Jeremy Piven Bails on Broadway Play Due to High Mercury Count

Jeremy Piven suddenly bailed on the Broadway revival of David Mamet’s Speed the Plow, saying that he’s suffering from a high mercury count. Leaving the play high and dry – Piven missed Tuesday night’s and Wednesday’s performances – isn’t sitting well with playwright Mamet.

David Mamet commented to the Daily Variety, “I talked to Jeremy on the phone, and he told me that he discovered that he had a very high level of mercury. So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer.”

Is Jeremy Piven a pissy diva or is he really ill?

Luckily, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tony-winner Norbert Leo Butz temporarily took over for Piven in Speed the Plow, but hundreds of people asked for refunds when they discovered Piven left.

Piven’s rep told the Post that while Jeremy wanted to continue the play, his doctors advised him to leave it immediately.

Bow Wow to Join Season Five of Entourage

Rapper Bow Wow will be joining the fifth season of Entourage, playing a stand-up comic who becomes E’s (Kevin Connolly) new client.

According to Bow Wow, “After 16 years in the music industry and six successful albums, I’ve decided to shift my energy to something else I’m passionate about, acting. I’m going to try to be the next Will Smith.”

This isn’t Bow Wow’s first acting gig — he’s appeared in Like Mike, Roll Bounce, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Johnson Family Vacation, Ugly Betty, Smallville and Moesha.
