Last week, Selena Gomez was hospitalized after a Tonight Show appearance when she complained of nausea and a severe headache.

Gomez explained the illness, saying, “I was very malnourished. I was dehydrated and very low on iron. So, I just gotta take care of myself.”

Let’s hope she’s able to keep her health on track, as she assures that she’ll “Just take care of myself better.”

In the video clip, Demi Lovato talks about her eating disorder that started when childhood bullies called her fat. Lovato says she’s always been an advocate against bullying, but now she can share her personal story.

Demi explains that the bullying caused depression, saying it “was really dark” and her only way of coping “was through my eating disorder” and the urges to cut herself.

Lovato also talks about the shock of being in the treatment facility and finding out she was bi-polar.

Demi also said her sister Madison, who stars on Desperate Housewives, got her through treatment and on the road to recovery because she told herself “set this example for your little sister.”

In People magazine, Demi Lovato explains her eating disorder – skipping meals, taking laxatives and throwing up: “When I was 15, I was only eating a meal a day … When I was about 15, I was only eating two meals a week, but I wasn’t losing any more weight because my body adjusted to that. So I tried new things: laxatives, fasts — nothing was working. I decided maybe I should start throwing up. At my worst, I was doing it five times a day. I threw up so hard and so much, it was just blood in the toilet.”

Demi Lovato also talks about reconnecting with best friend Selena Gomez: “Selena [Gomez] and I reconnected the first week. We hadn’t spoken in a long time. I take the blame; I feel like it was because of the way I’d been acting. She called me and she was the one crying.”

Yesterday, Demi Lovato announced she was leaving Sonny with a Chance to focus on her music career – she says she’s about to start working on her third album.

How is Demi Lovato doing since rehab? She says, “I’m taking life day by day.”

Lovato explains her eating issues and battle with cutting, which started with childhood bullying – she said she was bullied because she was fat and developed an eating disorder.

Demi also talks about physically hitting a backup dancer last year, saying she takes “100% full responsibility” for the incident.

After that, Demi Lovato’s family and management team had an intervention to get her into rehab treatment.

Lovato explains that she’ll be leaving Sonny with a Chance to explore her music career: “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music,” Lovato told People magazine. “It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.”

Lovato continues, “I don’t think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery. Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.”

Disney Channel released this statement: “We respect Demi’s decision to focus fulltime on her music and not immediately return to her acting career. She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”

Sonny with a Chance will take on a name change – “So Random!” – and be more of a sketch comedy series. Look for its debut in June.

“I basically had a nervous breakdown,” Demi Lovato shares. “I was really bad off. My parents and my manager pulled me aside and said, ‘You need to get some help.’ It was an intervention.”

Yes, Demi Lovato also had an eating disorder, she tells Seventeen, and body image struggles her whole life.

Demi Lovato is partnering with Seventeen and the Jed Foundation for the “Love is Louder Than The Pressure to Be Perfect” campaign to help girls deal with self-esteem issues.

Demi Lovato will regularly contribue to Seventeen, explaining, “It’s very crucial that you get your feelings out, but don’t ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred. If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don’t put yourself in danger.”
