Desperate Housewives is going the distance – through 2013, anyway. Variety is reporting that show creator Marc Cherry has signed a deal with ABC Studios, extending Desperate Housewives through to a ninth season.
Marc Cherry will stay on as executive producer through the series’ run, but will the cast, who are only signed through season 7, stay for the duration?

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher is getting in shape for the upcoming Nautica Malibu Triathlon in Malibu, Californa on September 13. Hatcher was seen over the weekend, training for the half-mile swim Pacific Ocean swim, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run on Zuma Beach.
Teri Hatcher wrote about the training on her blog, saying, “I’ve got to say, the run is HARD. Those last four miles make my knees ache and my chest burn. And did you know you’re not allowed to use an ipod?! Who can run without music?”

Desperate Housewives casting news… Jesse Metcalfe, who played sexy gardener John Rowland in the first season of DH and returned throughout the years, will reprise his character again.
Jesse Metcalfe is set to appear in 6 to 8 episodes, a source tells OK Magazine, “with the possibility of coming back full time.”
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Julie on Desperate Housewives, but actress Andrea Bowen is returning as a series regular on Wisteria Lane for the upcoming season.
