Lisa Rinna Returning to Days of Our Lives as Billie Reed

Billie Reed is coming back to Days of Our Lives… well, Lisa Rinna will return to play Billie, that is.

GossipCop.com confirms that Rinna will make the return to DOOL beginning in March 2012.

Rinna was on Days of our Lives from 1992 to 1995, when she left to star on “Melrose Place.”

She has returned over the years, but hopes to stick around longer.

In a statement, Rinna said, “I am so thrilled to be back and excited to be acting again. I have done reality shows, talk shows and I thought, what a great way to come back and play a character that I love to play so much. Feels very full circle — like a new old chapter.”

Deidre Hall is returning to Days of Our Lives! Look for Deidre Hall to reprise her role as Dr. Marlena Evans beginning September 26.

Other DOOL alum returning include Patrick Muldoon (Austin Reed) and Christie Clark (Carrie Brady)… but will fans see the return of Drake Hogestyn (John Black)?

Executive Producer Ken Corday has hired two new head writers, so maybe Days of Our Lives will get good again!

Days of Our Lives fans, take note… Days of Our Lives has been renewed for two years!

DOOL executive producer Ken Corday said that he “broke down” in tears when he heard that NBC was renewing the soap opera.

Corday tells The Times: “This is a time of a lot of uncertainty in the soap community” – so a Days of Our Lives renewal is pretty exciting news for fans of the long running series.

Good news for Days of Our Lives fans… NBC has renewed DOOL, which is great, given that so many other soap operas have had to close their doors recently.

Days of Our Lives has been on the air since 1965 and under the renewal, we will see the folks of Salem for at least another year.

Marc Graboff, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said, “Days of Our Lives continues to be a favorite of the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 45th season. Days has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively.”

“Days of Our Lives” Frances Reid Dies at Age 95; Alice Horton Video

Aw, sad news for Days of Our Lives fans – Frances Reid, who played Alice Horton, died yesterday of natural causes. Frances Reid was 95.

Frances Reid started acting in the late 30s and made her Broadway debut in 1939, appearing in “Where there’s a Will.” Reid appeared in other Broadway shows, before moving to TV.

Reid got the role of Alice Horton on DOOL in 1965.
