Camp Rock Grabs 17.2 Million Viewers, Beats High School Musical Debut

Did you tune in Friday night for the Disney Channel original Camp Rock, starring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato? 8.9 million viewers watched the Jonas Brothers rock out in Camp Rock, beating the debut of the original High School Musical in 2006.

While that sounds impressive, Camp Rock failed to best the 17.2 million viewers that tuned in for the HSM sequel, High School Musical 2.

Camp Rock is the second most watched TV movie of all time… and sadly, I checked it out to see what all the hype was about (and didn’t totally hate it).
