Brothers & Sisters’ season finale, “Walker Down the Aisle,” aired on May 8. The Brothers and Sisters season 5 episode 22 synopsis: “As Sarah and Luc’s nuptials approach, plans go horribly awry and the Walkers learn several surprising lessons about the real meaning of family.”

Balthazar Getty only had limited screentime during last season’s Brothers & Sisters, so this doesn’t come as a huge shocker. And I don’t think fans of B&S will find his absence a huge loss either.

Given his limited number of episodes last season, Balthazar Getty’s character, Tommy, really didn’t give audiences that much to hold on to.

EW.com reports that Tommy’s absence will be explained during the Brothers & Sisters season 5 premiere on September 26, which fast forwards things one year from where we last left off (sniffle… Rob Lowe and that car crash).

Tommy will have reportedly moved to Seattle to be closer to his estranged wife and child.

What do you think about Balthazar Getty leaving Brothers & Sisters?

No doubt, the cast reduction fuels this rumor – Rob Lowe and Emily VanCamp are both done with the series – and ABC reduced the episode order… does this mean they’ve run out of Walker stories to tell?

Interesting to note that when Brothers & Sisters returns this fall, the series will get the time jump treatment, moving things ahead a year.

Executive producer David Marshall Grant tells Ausiello that the move ahead in time will “put [our characters] in fresh and different places, and hopefully that will have legs.”

As for the rumors, Grant says, “No one has told me that it’s the last season,” so as a B&S fan, I’m holding on to that.

Emily VanCamp, who plays Rebecca, says she will return to Brothers & Sisters for a couple of episodes, but ultimately, says it’s “the right time to move on.”

Looking ahead towards other acting jobs, VanCamp relays that leaving the show “was a big risk, but I’m really excited about it.”

VanCamp is currently working on a Hallmark movie called “Let Them Shine,” where she plays a teacher to homeless children.

On to more theories about who dies in the Brothers & Sisters season finale…

It seems a no brainer that Robert could die because he’s leaving the series for Parks & Recreation. But, that also seems too predictable, since viewers already knew of his departure from the series.

Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths and Gilles Marini are all back next season, and Balthazar Getty is in contract negotiations, so they’ll all be around. Sally Field can’t leave. Ever.

Ryan, played by Luke Grimes, won’t be back for next season, so his character may be the one to die… but he sort of vanished awhile back, so it doesn’t seem like his death would be that dramatic.

How about Saul (Ron Rifkin)? He hasn’t had much to do lately, but honestly, I can’t stand the thought of Saul being off the series.

Finally, some are guessing that Luke MacFarlane’s Scotty could be killed off. Don’t even joke about this… I know I’m not alone in saying that Scotty is one of my favorite characters and he and Kevin have a potentially big storyline with a baby on the way.

EW.com reports the happy Gilles Marini news, as well as one reduction in cast.

Luke Grimes, who plays Walker half-brother Ryan, will not be returning. As far as storylines go, I can’t see that anyone will be missing Ryan’s presence much – he didn’t really add much to the show.

And, back to the important news… Gilles. Sweet, sweet, beautiful, sexy Gilles…

Look for Brothers and Sisters’ season four finale on May 16.

News of a renewal for Brothers & Sisters’ Sunday night companion Desperate Housewives should be coming soon. There are still stories left to be told about the Walker clan and the Wisteria Lane gang, apparently.

Lowe would appear on a multi-episode arc of Parks and Recreation and is expected to appear on the season finale and then again when the show returns in the fall.
