Brooke White sings “Jolene” by Dolly Parton in this April 1 American Idol video clip.
Randy said she had some pitch problems, but it was alright; Paula said she puts her heart and soul into her song choices; Simon said she lacked emotion, wasn’t one of her better performances.
Brooke White sings “Every Breath You Take” by The Police (1983) in this March 25 video clip. Oh please don’t let that false start get her booted this week. I’d love to see her go farther in this competition.
Randy didn’t love the arrangement, thought it was ok; Paula enjoyed it more than last week’s, said it was great; Simon thought it would have been better with just her on the piano, but good enough to keep her in another week.
Brooke White sang “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles in this March 18 American Idol video clip.
Randy thought it was awkward and thought he wasn’t connected to the song; Paula thought she played it safe; Simon thought the performance was terrible and forgettable.
Brooke White sang “Let It Be” by The Beatles in this March 11 American Idol top 12 video clip.
Randy didn’t think it was her strongest performance, but loves her conviction and heartfelt performance; Paula said she has an emotional connection that makes people fall in love with her; Simon thought it was one of the best performances of the night and a brilliant choice of song.
Without a doubt, Brooke White singing “Love is a Battlefield” by Pat Benatar was my favorite “American Idol” top 8 girls’ performances (check the video clip).
Randy really liked it and thought it was very interesting; Paula thought it was a wise choice; Simon thought it worked and thought it was original and she had a great performance, two weeks running.
