Parks and Recreation may very well be the most improved player on the TV schedule this year. If you passed on it last season, give it another try – P&R has stepped up its game 1,000 percent.

All of the stars of Arrested Development: Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Will Arnett, Alia Shawkat, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter and Jeffrey Tambor are all on board, so Hurwitz and Vallely are working to move forward on the project.

Now comes the scheduling debacle, however. Anyone care to guess for a release date for the Arrested Development movie?

David Cross appears in this August 17 The Daily Show with Jon Stewart interview video clip to promote his new book and upcoming tour dates.

Hurwitz, Arnett and Vallely will write the comedy, with Arnett playing “a rich Beverly Hills jackass who falls in love with a charitable tree-hugging woman who can’t stand his lifestyle or values.”

So here’s the latest Arrested Development movie update – E! Online is reporting that the movie will begin filming this fall.

So says Arrested Development star Will Arnett, who commented in an E! interview:

“I think it has to do with schedules, and Jason Bateman’s been in rehab for the last two years, so when he gets out, then I think we’ll probably start.

We want to get done by the end of the year and Mitch [Hurwitz, writer/director] is actively working on [it]. Hopefully, by the fall, we’ll start rolling, as they say.”

Portia de Rossi is promoting her new TV show, Better Off Ted, debuting Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

While the other Arrested Development stars had committed to the AD movie long ago (including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor and David Cross), Michael Cera has been mum about whether he would join the cast, prompting rumors that Cera was getting too big for his britches after his Superbad fame.

The Arrested Development movie wheels are in motion, with Mitchell Hurwitz reportedly working on the script and Ron Howard standing by to direct. This is really going to happen!

Ryan Seacrest spoke with Ron Howard at the Oscars, where Howard commented, “It’s looking very much like we’re going to make [the movie], but we’ve now been asked to stop offering any details. It’s cloaked in a little mystery, but it’s looking good.”

Will Arnett told E! News: “For once and for all, the Arrested Development movie is happening!” That sounds like a pretty solid confirmation.

Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and AD producer Mitch Hurwitz met with reporters to promote their new animated Fox series, Sit Down, Shut Up and talked a bit about Arrested Development.

When asked if Michael Cera would reprise his role as George-Michael, Hurwitz said, “I hope so… We’re just trying to get all the actors on board.”

Jason Bateman added that “I know he’s [Michael Cera] thinking about it. And we’re all awaiting some finality to all of that so Mitch can get writing.”

Bateman added, “You’d have to get [Michael] on the phone to get his answer about whether he’s going to come back and do it or not. He’s certainly not said that he won’t do it. I think Michael is clearly the guy that has come out of Arrested Development with a very big plate, so I think he’s trying to really give some responsible thought to what makes sense for him to do with his career. The guy is 20 years old and I’m sure he doesn’t want to screw up this opportunity.”

What’s in store for the Arrested Development movie? Hurwitz says, “We’re going to pick up five years later, and family dynamics change, but they also kind of stay the same. So hopefully we’ll just explore where they are now.”

Will Arnett told EW.com, “Arrested Development has such a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to strap that fake hand back on and fight the seal once and for all—wait, which guy did I play?”

”It’ll be fun to get back together with everybody and work on it. It’s been so long now, we almost have to do it. It’s like we have to finish the joke.”
