Arrested Development Movie AND New Season of AD? Watch AD Announcement (Video)

An Arrested Development movie has been teased for quite some time now… but how about a movie AND a new season of AD?

It’s almost too good to be true, but Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz said at the New Yorker Festival that a new, limited season of Arrested Development (9 to 10 episodes) is happening to catch up fans with the characters, followed by the movie. Check out the video of the AD announcement.

Cast members Will Arnett and Jason Bateman confirmed the Arrested Development news on Twitter, so it sounds like it’s all happening!

Arnett tweeted: “I’m peeing with @batemanjason at the moment..and we can confirm that we are going to make new AD eps and a movie.”

Bateman tweeted: “It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ‘13. VERY excited!”

Hurwitz says he’s half done with the screenplay and teased a spoiler alert: “They fuck everything up.”

Arrested Development was canceled five years ago.

Will Arnett Confirms Arrested Development Movie on Tonight Show (Video)

Will Arnett was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and confirmed, once again, that the Arrested Development movie is happening (video). I don’t know how much more confirmation we need, other than them making the movie already!

Arnett says that Arrested Development’s Mitch Hurwitz is writing the script and says, “We are going to make that movie and everybody’s back in.”

At least now we know that everyone seems to be on board, but when can we expect AD to finally land on the big screen?

Portia de Rossi Changing to Ellen DeGeneres’ Last Name

Portia de Rossi will soon be Portia DeGeneres, after filing a petition to legally change her name to Portia Lee James DeGeneres in L.A. County Superior Court last week.

TMZ.com reports that Portia de Rossi listed the following reason: “Petitioner is taking the last name of her spouse.”

de Rossi’s name change won’t be official until a September 23 hearing.

Portia and Ellen were married on August 17, 2008.

Amy Poehler, Will Arnett Baby Abel Born August 6

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett welcomed baby Abel James Arnett Friday morning, August 6.

This is the second son for Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. Abel James weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz. Older brother Archie was born in October 2008.

Poehler’s rep commented, “Amy, Will, Abel and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably.”

But how will the pregnancy affect Parks and Recreation? It won’t.

Amy Poehler’s pregnancy will not be written into the storyline of Parks and Recreation.

Parks and Recreation plans to film as many episodes as they can before Poehler takes her maternity leave – expect plenty of items to block her growing belly!

Will Arnett has confirmed that sometime this year they’ll begin making the Arrested Development movie, saying:

“We are working on the movie right now, yeah…We don’t have a completed script yet, but it’s forthcoming and we’re going to make the movie this year.”
