NBC plans to bring Amy Poehler back for the special Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday… and only for the September 17 and September 24 shows. We can finally stop saying “that new untitled Amy Poehler comedy…” – it’s got a name! “Public Service,” starring Poehler and Rashida Jones, will premiere on NBC April 9 at 8:30 p.m.
Public service comes from The Office executive producers, but will not cross paths with the Scranton-based comedy, but will follow The Office on Thursday nights.

Details are slowly being revealed about Amy Poehler’s new sitcom on NBC – and while the show still doesn’t have a title, at least we know about her character and the backdrop.
Amy Poehler says the show is set in small-town government, with documentary cameras (a la The Office) following Leslie Knope (Poehler), who plays a Parks and Recreation Department bureaucrat in Pawnee, Indiana. Read the rest of this entry »
