We can finally stop saying “that new untitled Amy Poehler comedy…” – it’s got a name! “Public Service,” starring Poehler and Rashida Jones, will premiere on NBC April 9 at 8:30 p.m.
Public service comes from The Office executive producers, but will not cross paths with the Scranton-based comedy, but will follow The Office on Thursday nights.
Details are slowly being revealed about Amy Poehler’s new sitcom on NBC – and while the show still doesn’t have a title, at least we know about her character and the backdrop.
Amy Poehler says the show is set in small-town government, with documentary cameras (a la The Office) following Leslie Knope (Poehler), who plays a Parks and Recreation Department bureaucrat in Pawnee, Indiana. Read the rest of this entry »
If you wondered last weekend if Amy Poehler was returning to SNL, well… sorta. She appeared on Saturday’s SNL in the opening sketch and on weekend update and will appear one more time.
Look for Amy Poehler on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live. Her rep commented, “Amy was excited to return to SNL for a surprise visit and will also appear on next week’s show before officially departing to focus on her new NBC sitcom.”
Wait? Is Amy Poehler back on Saturday Night Live? First, Amy Poehler reprised her Hillary Clinton role in the opening sketch (video here), but then she also returned to the Weekend Update desk on the December 6 SNL.
Rumors have been swirling for some time that Rashida Jones (Karen on The Office) would join the cast of the new NBC comedy from the Office writers. The rumor has been confirmed – Rashida Jones will co-star with SNL alum Amy Poehler in the as-yet-to-be-named sitcom.
Michael Schur, showrunner for the new Amy Poehler series says, “It’s true. She’ll [Rashida Jones] be playing a nurse named Ann. (Not [her Office character] Karen Fillipelli).”
