This just in: Ellen DeGeneres will replace Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on American Idol! Fox has made a very good choice in choosing Ellen DeGeneres for the vacancy left by Paula Abdul – no doubt DeGeneres will increase the viewing audience, given her popularity as daytime talk show host.

And, breathe easy… Ellen DeGeneres has no plans to quit her talk show gig. What do you think of the choice of DeGeneres as replacement for Paula Abdul?

Simon Cowell commented on the Idol chemistry, post-Paula Abdul, and comments that American Idol is “different” without Paula.

Another star joins the growing roster of American Idol guest jugest – the latest is singer Avril Lavigne, who will fill Paula Abdul’s seat for the Los Angeles auditions. Avril Lavigne joins singer Katy Perry for guest judging duties in LA, where each will spend one day dishes out the critiques.

Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry join previously announced guest judges Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Neil Patrick Harris, Shania Twain, Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Jonas.

Now that Paula Abdul is through with American Idol, the world is her oyster. And one of the projects she’d love to do is host a talk show!
