Mad Men Renewed for Season 5: Mad Men Season 5 Airing in 2012?!

It’s a good news, bad news situation. Mad Men has not been canceled, as has been buzzed about – AMC has renewed Mad Men for season 5!

The bad news, however, is that Mad Men’s fifth season won’t air until 2012… that calls for the Don Draper “What?” video (above).

Details are still fuzzy as there’s not yet a deal for show creator Matthew Weiner to continue as Mad Men showrunner. Weiner reportedly wants $30 million over two years.

The official renewal statement: “AMC has officially authorized production of season 5 of Mad Men, triggering our option with Lionsgate (Mad Men‘s production company). While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012.”

Zombies rule! AMC announced that The Walking Dead has been renewed for season 2 after just two episodes of the critcal darling have aired.

The Walking Dead saw a small drop in viewers over its Halloween night premiere, with Sunday’s episode pulling in 4.7 million viewers (the premiere nabbed 5.3 million).

13 episodes of The Walking Dead were ordered for season 2, making fans of the uber cool zombie series oh so happy.

The Walking Dead is based on the graphic novels featuring police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who gets shot, goes into a coma and wakes up to a zombie apocalypse.

You can watch the Mad Men season 4 premiere on AMC on July 25 at 10:00 p.m. or 11:56 p.m. “Public Relations” will re-air on July 26 at 1 a.m. and 11 p.m., as well as July 27 at 3 a.m. and July 30 at 1:30 a.m.

Mad Men to End with Season 6, Says Series Creator

Mad Men’s coming to an end? Series creator Matt Weiner told attendees at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas last week that season 6 of Mad Men will be its last.

Mad Men is currently shooting its fourth season.

When questioned at the conference about how he creates the storylines each year, Weiner commented that “he could not see writing or even continuing the series past a 6th season,” TheWeeklyBlend.com reports.

I say end on a high note, but I’m sure there will be plenty of Mad Men fans who say otherwise.

Mad Men Season 4 Premieres in July

While no specific date has been revealed for the Mad Men season 4 premiere, a press release has made the rounds to let folks know that the new season of Mad Men kicks off in July.

So, clear your calendars for Don Draper and the gang.

And in other Mad Med news, the gang is about to get slightly bigger.

Casting for three new characters is underway, according to EW.com:

The rookie trio includes… a handsome and creative male; a voluptuous, curvy, and cute brunette who is friendly but professional; and an affable guy who is a bit lacking in personality.

Hmmmm…..
