The ACM Awards started with some Reba McEntire / Blake Shelton joking, including Blake Shelton making a Jake Gyllenhaal gay joke to explain Jake and Taylor Swift’s break up. Watch the video to see Blake Shelton’s dig on Jake Gyllenhaal and Brokeback Mountain – homophobic?

Blake and Reba said they decided there would be no Charlie Sheen or Lindsay Lohan jokes or any jokes about celebrity scandals, but that didn’t stop the celebrity digs.

Shelton kicked things off with a Miley Cyrus bong smoking joke, before Reba instructed him that the second hosting rule was not to joke about Taylor Swift because “if you make her mad, she’ll write a song about you.”

Watch Blake Shelton and Reba at the ACM Awards opening around the 1:55 mark on the video, where Reba says of Swift, “She’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s sweet. What in the world was Jake Gyllenhaal thinking anyway?”

Taylor Swift is the ACM Awards 2011 Entertainer of the Year! The final Academy of Country Music award for Entertainer of the Year was presented by Ryan Seacrest and a shocked Taylor Swift took to the stage to thank her fans profusely for the honor.

Earlier at the ACM Awards, Taylor Swift performed “Mean” (video).
