Check it out – Barbara Walters is presenting her special of The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2007 – tomorrow night (December 6) at 10 PM on ABC.
The famous faces she’ll interview include: Victoria Beckham and David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Hudson, Don Imus, President Clinton, and MySpace’s Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe. Who will be the most fascinating of them all?
I kid you not. ABC Family is looking for “America’s Prom Queen.”
ABC Family is set to crown prom royalty in their new reality series, “America’s Prom Queen.” Several high school girls will live in a mansion and compete in challenges that “test their prom queen mettle.” Judges, known as the Prom Committee, will represent high school stereotypes and eliminate a contestant each week. In the end, viewers will prom “America’s Next Prom Queen,” and the entire cast and their dates will attend the finale – naturally, a prom where the winner will be crowned. Expect the show in spring 2008.
It was rather amusing, actually. Last night, in two completely different shows on two completely different networks, there was a recurring theme. Of multiple wives.
Pushing Daisies did it all weird, with the murdered man having had four “sister” wives who knew about one another, and loved one another and were “happy and content” together. Of course, one of them did murder him – the first wife, but who can blame her? Would you want to knowingly share your man with someone else?
On the other hand, Life handled it in a very classy – and very amusing manner. When they found the dead man, they also found two IDs. One took one and one took another. Both led to a house with a now-widow. Dani called up Charlie and said, “I’m with the widow.” Charlie, looking at the woman across from him said, “Funny you should say that.” Classy and funny.
Of course, I don’t think I’d be happy either way. I just found it rather ironic that it was last night’s TV theme, as it were, I’m sure not purposefully.
ABC’s new television show, Pushing Daisies asks the age-old question: if you could bring someone back, who would it be, and what would you ask?
Pushing Daisies revolves around Ned (played by Lee Pace) who has what could be called the gift of life. When he touches something that’s dead, he can bring it back to life. So what does this character do? Well, he makes pies, with fruit that he’s touched, so they retain their freshness and flavor. That all changed when a Private Investigator, Emerson Cod, tries to get him to bring people back to life, so she can find out who their killer was.
Then, Ned’s childhood sweetheart, Charlotte “Chuck” Charles is murdered on a cruise ship. She helps him solve the crime and then… he can’t send her back. Instead, Chuch joins Ned and Emerson in their work. So, while it sounds like it could be really sweet and all – the problem is if he touches her, she’ll die again, or rather, just go back.
That’s right, folks, Notes From the Underbelly is back. For those of you, like me, who missed it, this comedy is about a pregnant couple, Andrew (Peter Cambor) and Lauren (Jennifer Westfeldt) trying to adjust to being pregnant. As they get into it, they’re trying to face all the problems and joys of raising a child – trying to keep it a secret, trying to be healthy, trying to get parenting advice, trying to keep up, and most importantly, trying to maintain relationships with people they were friends with before baby came along.
Initially, it was supposed to be a filler season, but a change in plans stuck it in at the end of April, and now, they’re bringing it back. Notes From the Underbelly re-opens Monday November 26, 2007 at 9:30/8:30c.
Sara Rue, star of “Less than Perfect” (2002-2006), has filed for divorce from Mischa Livingstone, her husband of more than four years. While the couple was married in 2001, they had separated in May 2006. Rue’s ABC series ended in 2006, but she recently appeared on “Two and a Half Men.”
“Dance Machine” is yet another dance competition show coming to ABC. And who can blame ‘em? With the uber-successful “Dancing with the Stars,” it’s a no-brainer to introduce yet another dance-off to the schedule. “Dance Machine” doesn’t include celebs or semi-professionals – just regular people who love to dance (kind of like “American Idol,” but for aspiring dancers). Five episodes of the series will air in 2008.
