The Cash for Clunkers program gives people trading in gas guzzlers a credit when they purchase a new, more fuel efficient vehicle. Among the details in this Today show video clip: your existing car must have gotten 18 miles to the gallon or less when it was new and be less than 25 years old; the new vehicle that you buy or lease must be less than $45,000 and the credit varies depending on mileage.
Visit Cars.gov to see which auto dealers are participating in the Cash for Clunkers program.
The Cash for Clunkers program ends either November 1 or when the $1 billion in subsidies expire, whichever occurs first.
