Britney Spears
Looks like there was a lot of excitement while I was sleeping — reports that Britney Spears tried to commit suicide were rampant, only to later be knocked down. Yep, the Britney Spears suicide attempt rumors are false.

Britney Spears, has, however been committed to UCLA Medical Center and put under a 5150 psychiatric hold for 72 hours. (Not to Dr. Phil: stay out of it this time)

There was a big scene at Britney Spears’ house — helicopters, ambulance, police — and naturally gobs of paparazzi.

Britney’s psychiatrist apparently made the call to have her committed and it was all part of plan to get her the help she needs. An ambulance arrived at 1:20 AM (PT)

The L.A. Times is reporting:

“Authorities said the welfare hold was prompted by a telephone call they received from Spear’s psychiatrist. It was unclear exactly when they had received the call, but it was apparent that the operation had been carefully planned over a period of time. Unlike the first welfare hold — in which Spears’ ambulance was closely pursued by a throng of photographers — vehicles today were blocked from following the same route. The motorcade that whisked Spears to the hospital also showed a large investment in resources. The line of emergency vehicles stretched longer than a football field.”
