If there’s one thing about Bill Maher, he likes to stir up controversy. Another thing about Bill Maher that just may get him fired — he’s not apologetic. A petition is circulating at www.FireBillMaher.com in response to comments he made about the Pope and the Catholic Church on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” that he refused to apologize for. Check out the video clip above.

The American Life League started an effort to get Bill Maher fired, with Judie Brown, president of American Life League commenting:

Not only did Maher fail to apologize, he stepped up his insult of Pope Benedict XVI by saying that he swore an oath directly to Hitler. Maher made no apology and persists in his slander of the pope and the entire Catholic Church, and for that he must be fired.

Maher’s hate-speech cannot go unanswered, and that’s why American Life League will not stop until Maher is no longer on the air.

Maher apologized for the only thing he needed to apologize for — he explained in factual detail what he actually said, which was totally true, and also admitted that he cut the pope some slack because of his youth at the time he was a Nazi. The fact still remains, that the pope was a Nazi. No apology necessary for telling truth. Now, on the other side of this equation, the pope’s side, I can see lots of need for apology, and there is none forthcoming.
