Mr. Manilow,
A friend of mine was on the today show on Friday. She is a small child who lives here on LI and is receiving chemo treatment on St. Jude’s hospital. In fact there were about 10 children who were asked to be on the show. Upon there arriving at the TV station they went into the Green Room and there you sat. You yelled at them and said ” Get those kids out of here.”
I hope to take the time to reflect on what happened and give thanks that you are healthy.
A sadden Fan….

I was told by one of the St. Jude’s patients that Barry Manilow was extremely rude to these families. Totally unacceptable. Wait til one of his family members have cancer.

I have also heard about Barry’s behavior at the Today show last Friday. He refused to let the cancer kids in the Green Room with him. The children, many of whom where still on treatment for their cancers were taken to the Rockefeller Center Food Court (which was closed at the time) to wait. They had to use public NYC restrooms. A buddy of mine whose daughter is still on chemo had to use a sink next to a homeless person who was WASHIN HER FEET

I would be interested to hear Barry’s response to the comments relating to the cancer kids. If his behaviour is anything like indicated I am disgusted. His own mother used to devote her time to the sick children of a New York hospital, I think it was in fact St. Judes. I am from Sydney Australia, hence my lack of familiarity. Surely, he has a plausible explanation or there was a terrible misunderstanding. God bless the children and their families.

I also heard about Manilow refusing to let these 10 kids with cancer share the green room with him. For shame, Barry. That showed a level of self-centeredness that appalls me. You have lost a fan. My six-year-old daughter has brain cancer and I would expect a “grown-up” to treat her with caring and respect. You evidently can’t deliver that kind of compassion.

The incident at the TODAY show is TRUE, and Mr. Manilow has lost MANY fans due to his bad behavior. He should be supporting St. Jude and the children & families that they help every single minute of every single day, INCLUDING MY NEPHEW & MY family!!! Mr. Manilow, you are truly DISGUSTING!

I think that Barry and his back up dancers have truly disgusted the human race. My child and I used to sing Can’t Smile Without You before she passed away due to cancer. I hope you feel bad – you and your back up dancers.

It’s my understanding that the events that happened are still being investigated and no one knows for a certainty what actually happened. Until the investigation is complete, no one should be pointing fingers at anyone.
I agree it was a deplorable situation… but until ALL the facts are known… it should be left between the families, The producers of the Today Show, Stiletto Entertainment (Mr. Manilow’s Management Team), and St. Jude’s.
Airing your grievances here isn’t going to do anyone any good.

Well, it seems to me like a pretty small, but organized “Smear” campaign against Barry Manilow. It appears as though there are some people out there that are resenting 40 years of making people feel good and feel good about themselves, as well as being one of the most generous and humble contibutors to more charities and causes than most people can name.
These little shots will do nothing to tarnish his remarkable achievments to all the causes he hold dear to his heart.
Keep up the GREAT work Barry.

My grandmother always told me don’t believe everything you hear and only half of what you see. I think this is very valuable advise. Please do not crucify Barry without knowing the facts.Let’s try and keep an open mind.Barry’s mom did die of cancer and he has done a lot of good for many people who live with different illnesses. He has done so much for me both directly and indirectly over the years and I thank God for him every night. All I am asking is for everyone to have an open heart and open mind.. If Barry is guilty, please remember that he is man and a human being and not perfect. His being a celebrity does not mean that he is free of having bad judgment at times in his life.We all do. We have all made mistakes in our lives.May God open your hearts and minds and give you the strength to forgive Barry if he did indeed do something less than desirable and if he did not…May God give him the strength to forgive those who have wrongfully judged him.

For those who are up to speed with Mr. Manilow, he is still getting over a bad bout of bronchitis. It was for their health I am sure. I am sure he did explain it to whom ever he said it to. Did any of you tried to see if that was done? Or did you just find another reason to Barry Bash? He gives a lot back to so many so be sure you know the whole story before you so easily bash him.

If Barry was sick, then he should have left the room. He doesn’t have cancer! IMHO kid’s cancer trumps Barry’s bronchitis. These children have been through enough and deserved better than to be carted off to a dirty food court to wait. He should have went to the food court to wait. I guess he thinks he’s too good for that. He should be ashamed.
To all you warriors out there, you are my heroes! Stay Strong!

Mr. Manilow’s reaction to the children was more than poor judgement, but the network’s reaction and solution was worse. He should be ashamed of himself for treating children, sick or otherwise, in such a manner. The network people should have taken better care of the children first, then Mr Manilow. My information comes directly from one of the parents. Mr. Manilow insulted and rejected the children, the network personnel “put them out with the trash!! “

If Barry had bronchitis, the smart thing was removing the kids since the room was already bugged with germs. Chemo patients are so susceptible to getting sick. I would hope that no public figure would behave in such a way with a sick anyone, esp. kids. The fan base and their wealth comes from these every day normal people. The TV station should have done a lot more to keep these kids safe. Having a street person washing their feet in a sink doesn’t constitute a clean place for sick kids to be. Actually, it is the network’s fault.
