Annie Lennox Performs “Why” 2008 American Music Awards/AMAs, Receives Award of Merit

Annie Lennox gave one of the most memorable performances at the 2008 American Music Awards/AMAs last night, November 23. Annie Lennox took to the stage to perform “Why” – no theatrics, bright lights or over-the-top costumes here – just Lennox and her piano.
After the performance, Justin Timberlake presented Annie Lennox with the American Music Awards Award of Merit.

Annie Lennox said in her acceptance speech:
“It’s been an incredible journey – music, my friends, my accompaniment through my life, so much of my life. Much of that was with Dave Stewart, of the Eurythmics and it is very important that I say half of the award goes to Dave also.”
“Thank you so much for this. I never thought that I would live to see the day that I could be 53-years-old, standing on the stage and so many people have inspired me in this experience and too many to mention.”
