American Idol Apologizes to Mark Mudd for “Be Careful” Comment (Video)
Remember Mark Mudd from the Louisville, Kentucky auditions (watch video above)? He didn’t get through to Hollywood, but on his way out of the audition room he told the judges to “be careful.” Paula Abdul somehow took that as a threat and got snippy about it.
Seems like the guy was just using a Southern expression, right?
Anyway, American Idol issued a statement of apology for the Mark Mudd misunderstanding, saying:
“We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the misinterpretation of the contestant’s comment to “be careful” upon completion of his audition in Louisville, KY. Our visits to audition cities are relatively brief and sometimes regional greetings and salutations are lost in translation. We had not heard that phrase from any other contestants during the day, so it took everyone by surprise. We now know better and look forward to visiting Louisville again someday.”
