American Idol 7 Final Auditions: Alesha Stelzl, Sounds Like Dolly Parton (Video)
Alesha Stelzl, 18, from Ontario, California earns tons of bonus points in my book. While Simon Cowell found her singing “Surrender” by Celine Dion to be absolutely dreadful and painful, Paula and Randy thought Alesha Stelzl had a Dolly Parton quality. Simon challenged Alesha to learn a Dolly Parton song and come back. And she did it!
Alesha Stelzl, who learned Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream” in a short time, returned to the audition room (seen in this “American Idol 7″ final audition video clip) and was given the go-ahead to the Hollywood round. Even Simon had to admit that Paula was right about Alesha Stelzl’s tone working with a Dolly Parton song.
“Islands in the Stream” after the jump.
