Adam Walsh Murder Case Closed: Police Name Ottis Toole as Killer
After 27 years, the murder case of Adam Walsh has been officially closed by police and Ottis Toole has been named the killer. Ottis Toole, who was a suspect in the Adam Walsh case, died in prison in 1996.
Adam Walsh’s disappearance in 1981 from a department store ended in tragedy when his head was found in a canal two weeks later. He was six.
The abduction and killing prompted his father, John Walsh, to help pass the federal Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984, which established the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Walsh later hosted America’s Most Wanted.
An arrest was never made in the Adam Walsh case, but a transient named Ottis Toole confessed two years later to killing Adam. Toole died in prison before he was further investigated.
During a press conference today, police said that the evidence against Ottis Toole was there all along – no new evidence has come to light.

The murder of Adam Walsh was horrible, unthinkable, an obscenity. It was a tragedy for his family and the nation that obviously should have never happened and deserves to be remembered. But what about the fifty nine missing and murdered African American children and adolescents in Atlanta spanning a period of 1979 to 1981? I lived through that, in Atlanta, so I can personally attest to the anguish of an entire major city. Why is this series of murders not considered “the crime that put missing children on the national agenda?” Was it because it was in Atlanta, still in Reconstruction, still being punished, unworthy of the concern of the nation? Or was it because the Atlanta victimS were African American?

Lucas and O’toole claimed to kill many people while in prison. Many of which were proven to be false. They knew they would be studied and scrutinized for years before they both died from natural causes. It is SO easy for the Hollywood, Fla, police dept to say it is solved when there is no one to try in court. I dont want to hear about new evidence 27 years later, when they lost evidence years ago. Im a retired cop with 30 years and was on the street when this Walsh boy disappeared. This is baloney! How convenient for the Chief of Police to solve a 27 year old crime that no one else could, and get his name in the news. I dont believe it for a minute. The body was never found, only the head. O’Toole told them, but it was never found, where he said it was. He claimed to belong to the cult, Hand of Death. Yeah, Oh!, bullshhhhhht. He and Henry Lee Lucas was found to be liars, many many times. Im surprised John Walsh believes this crap. Sorry John, but your sons acclaimed killer is a known liar and the Hollywood Chief of Police is too. Trying to clear a case and make a name for himself. What a travesty of justice to claim that a man who has been dead for 12 years, and a proven liar. Shame on them both. I dont believe this crap for a second. Oh, And Charlotte, I remember all this about Atlanta, and although terrible, the entire world does not revolve around Black Americans. This is about children who were being murdered. Not about a racial issue.
Please stop it. My god, give it a rest. Lets not make EVERYTHING a racial issue. This was about a little boy, not a white boy, or a black boy, just a boy. Give it a rest and give John Walsh his credit due. Geesh!

Oh there were others killed, but look it up, Wiki it. There were time lapses and such after WAYNE WILLIAMS was arrested. Yes I remember all this too. Charlotte, please get your facts straight before crying the race issue. It is NOT a race issue. The Atlanta killings were investigated more thoroughly than the Walsh murder. After Williams conviction, the Atlanta police declared an additional 23 of the 29 child murders solved. 29 NOT 59. Dont get started on Charles Sanders, no charges were EVER Filed against him. A black man, Williams, killed these kids in Atlanta, he was killing his own people. So you see, Charlotte, it was not a racial thing then, and shouldnt be now.
