So… here it is. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert officially coming out on the cover/interview of the latest Rolling Stone. Check out the Rolling Stone cover picture of Lambert.

In the Rolling Stone interview, Adam Lambert admits he’s gay – but really, he says he’s never been so secret about it. In the interview, Lambert says, “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I’m gay. I’ve been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I’ve been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner.”

Adam Lambert explains why he chose to come out on the cover of Rolling Stone, saying, “Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters, but I thought, ‘I’m going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler.’ … “I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”

Adam Lambert even admimts he was crushing on American Idol winner Kris Allen: “They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

He’s “proud” of his sexuality? I don’t get it. It’s not as though being gay or straight is some kind of achievement. Does he think he’s a role model of some kind. God, I hope not. Our sexuality is important– but only to us and our lovers. Acting like it’s some sort of feather in your cap is just stupid. Oh well, he obviously wants very badly to be famous, so the flamboyancy is understandable I suppose.
