2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony Lip Synching Little Girl Scandal
Along with the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremony fake fireworks and French swimmer Laure Manaudou’s naked picture scandal a new scandal has surfaced – lip synching during the Olympics opening ceremony by a little girl chosen to replace the singer who was deemed not cute enough.
It was discovered yesterday that the girl in the red dress singing Ode to the Motherland during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremony was not really singing. The lip synching fakery was performed by Lin Miaoke to the voice of seven-year-old Yang Peiyi.
Yang Peiyi was not seen by the public because Beijing Olympic officials felt she did not project the right image with her chubby face and crooked teeth.
The Beijing Olympic ceremony’s musical director, Chen Qigang, said, “Little Yang Peiyi’s failure to be selected was mainly because of her appearance. The reason was for the national interest. The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feelings, and expression. Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects. But in terms of voice, Yang Peiyi is perfect, each member of our team agreed.”

what was wrong with the face of the real singer? she was beautiful. has it come to the stage that even at the tender age of 9 we have to strive for perfection? let children be children..
