1980s Gossip Girl Spin Off Planned, Rumors Confirmed

Hey, remember about a month ago when Gossip Girl producers said there wasn’t going to be a spin-off? They lied!
Be on the lookout for a 1980s era Gossip Girl spinoff to feature a younger Lily van der Woodsen (then known as Kelly Rhodes) in Hollywood.
Gossip Girl creators/executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are writing the spin-off, which focuses on Lily’s move to the San Fernando Valley with her sister after a fight with her parents.
But why the 80s? Schwartz and Savage ccommented, “We didn’t want to upset the chemistry of our cast — all of whom are crucial to the show. Nor did we want to dilute New York City as a character.”
The spinoff will occur as a backdoor pilot on the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl.
