Rainn Wilson, The Office
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) granted a waiver prior to the writers’ strike to allow Film Independent, the Spirit Awards organizer, to hire writers.

This morning, it was reported that “The Office” star Rainn Wilson will not only host the Spirit Awards, but will also be a co-writer for the event.

The Spirit Awards, which honors independent films, will air on February 23 (one day before the Oscars) on the Independent Film Channel. An edited version will also be broadcast the same day on AMC.

Additionally, the WGA granted a waiver to the Screen Actors Guild for the SAG awards; waiver requests for the Golden Globes and the Oscars were rejected.
