The Mole
Wow. I had to do a double-take on this one – “The Mole” will be making a comeback on ABC this summer.

If you don’t remember this reality competition, it’s understandable – it’s been four years since “The Mole” aired. “The Mole” featured contestants who completed tasks and challenges in a foreign location to earn money for the winner’s pot. And yes, there is a mole amongst them – a saboteur who may be mucking up the game and limiting the prize money. In the end, it comes down to the mole and the final player, who takes home whatever has accumulated in the money pot.

ABC Entertainment alternative series senior VP John Saade said, “This is a show we honestly love and people ask us about all the time.”

“The Mole” originally aired in 2001 and 2002, and had a little host by the name of Anderson Cooper. He was fantastic – very dry, but oh-so-charming – and it worked. No word on who will fill Anderson Cooper’s shoes (hey, he’s at CNN right now, so you know he’s too big to work on a reality series!).

The show’s producers are casting the host, “looking for someone in the Anderson mode, a little mysterious but full of comedy.”

Incidentally, “The Mole” took a downward slide when it aired two seasons of “Celebrity Mole” in 2003 and 2004. Please, no more celebrities on this series.

“The Mole” will return this summer for 10 episodes and casting and pre-production are already underway.
