“American Idol” Adds Instruments to the Mix

After six seasons on the air, “American Idol” has to do something to shake things up. This year, “American Idol” will add instruments to the mix, allowing contestants who play an instrument to do so, in addition to singing (of course).
According to judge Paula Abdul, “It’s going to be one of the best seasons we’ve ever had, no joke. We have incredible talent, great backstories, unique voices, adorable, good-looking kids…. You’re going to be pleasantly surprised. And you’re going to be laughing your butt off at some of the rarities. I will say this — someone is probably going to be bigger than William Hung.” If you say so, Paula.
Another changeup from last season is the decrease in “mentors” for the aspiring singers. You may recall last season’s excessive use of big name talents to teach the singers each week, but the seventh season promises mentors only every other week.

i think that sounds awesome, that they wont have those annoying “mentors” next year. They just took up air time and didnt really add anything to the show (and they probably couldnt care less about the contestants).. the judges and contestants are enough, they dont need to add any mentors or guest judges.
